梅总紧跟脚步出局，蒙特利尔天下大乱，星光黯淡成最尴尬大师赛？

乱了，乱了，彻底乱了，就在刚刚，梅德韦杰夫紧随着兹维列夫、弗里茨的脚步，不敌范德舒尚普爆冷出局。而由于今年阿尔卡拉斯、辛纳、德约科维奇的退赛，蒙特利尔大师赛如今更加“雪上加霜”、“星光黯淡”，前八号种子中已有五人出局——兹维列夫、阿利亚西姆（因伤退赛）、梅德维德夫、科博利、弗里茨。剩余的三位种子分别是3号德米纳尔、5号谢尔顿和8号莱赫卡。
换而言之，赛事第二轮比赛尚未完全收官，世界前十中就只剩德米纳尔和卫冕冠军谢尔顿仍在签表之中。
值得一提的是，今年这届赛事的惨淡程度已经打破多项尘封纪录。
这是历史上第二次大师赛32强中没有大满贯冠军得主，上一次还要追溯到遥远的1990年罗马大师赛。整整三十六年过去，这一尴尬纪录在蒙特利尔被追平。此外，这也是自1991年罗马大师赛以来，首次出现大师赛32强中没有世界前五球员的情况。
其实，究其原因，自2023年ATP将多站大师赛扩容为12天两周五轮的超级大师赛以来，加拿大大师赛便成了最直接的牺牲品。由于赛事紧随温网之后，又紧跟着辛辛那提大师赛，球员们必须在短短三周内连续应付两站超级大师赛，再马不停蹄地赶往纽约备战美网。而蒙特利尔又是在加拿大举办，尽管加拿大距离美国不远，但是很多球员仍然不愿意跨越两个国家参赛。
最终导致其结果便是球员们越发精打细算。大多数退赛球员的理由都比较如出一辙——精简赛程。而兹维列夫此前也多次公开批评赛制改革，称其让球员无法兼顾每一站比赛。弗里茨的处境则更典型：他周一刚在华盛顿站夺冠，周三就得飞越国境赶到蒙特利尔参赛，疲惫肉眼可见。
从2004年到2019年的十六年间，加拿大大师赛的冠军名单堪称黄金时代——费德勒两次、纳达尔五次、德约四次、穆雷三次、兹维列夫一次，外加2014年特松加连克三巨头的传奇。而最近四届赛事，冠军分别是布斯塔、辛纳、波普琳和谢尔顿，全是首次捧起大师赛奖杯的新面孔。如果今年再诞生一位"新大师"——比如莱赫卡、德米纳尔，甚至更年轻的丰塞卡或商竣程——那就是连续第五届了。
乱局之中，谁能接得住这波破天的富贵呢？
