北京时间7月12日，据The Athletic记者杰森·奎克报道，新加盟开拓者的全明星后卫贾·莫兰特透露，开拓者并没有允许他选择12号球衣。因此，莫兰特将在加盟开拓者后的首个赛季启用新的球衣号码，从12号改穿1号。
“球队对这个号码另有安排，”莫兰特说道。
开拓者上一任12号球衣的主人是名宿拉马库斯·阿尔德里奇，在他16年的NBA职业生涯中，有9个赛季效力于开拓者，并在2006年至2015年期间五次入选全明星。
他目前仍保持着开拓者队史篮板王纪录（5434个），队史得分榜排名第三（12562分）以及队史出场数排名第五（648场）。
